Sadly, to create something at the scale of Myspace would take a lot of money.
Does anyone understand programming in HTML/CSS? While that’s the basics, getting something fancy would require more. Of course, you could also hire a webmaster, then you would just be in charge of getting the idea for the website, and letting them do the work. You would also have to pay for hosting, maintenance, etc. It would be a lot of work!
I suggest that you start small. Learn some basic HTML and get a little free website at something like GeoCities! Make it something very local, or a personal website. You will learn a lot.
While I’m not saying it is bad idea to aspire, it is something that is out of most teenager’s grasps. However, if you start learning about web programming and design now, who knows what you might be able to accomplish in the future?
You’ll need to buy Web hosting services. To go cheap you can try to host the site from your broadband, but most ISPs block port 80, which means you’ll need either to run a Web server in a different port or buy Web hosting services.
You’ll need to hire a programmer to write the code for the site. Or learn some programming yourself and write it. I guess PHP should be easy to learn. Something like a dating site needs to be linked against a database containing the information of the members. You (or the programmer) will need to set that, too.
That for the “standard” part, which I guess it sounds like a lot of work already.
The complicated part I’d think is the underage item you mention so profusely in your posting. You want to restrict access to the site to people of a particular age range. That’s very difficult (if not impossible to do on-line). Second, even if you’re underage, by offering this service you’ll be liable (most probably as an adult) for any unexpected consequences from the dating site. I’d think that must be a reason why there are no site I have heard of for underage dating. It sounds like a legal can of worms.
So, to keep things simple and happy, just start your own Yahoo! Groups mailing list
